Non-Microsoft applications ignore most of this behind the scenes information. That is how a paste from Excel gets magically changed to a table when pasted to Word. The clipboard contains a lot of information telling it how to handle different Microsoft applications. For example if you copy information from Excel, it will paste differently in Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, Notepad, etc. The clipboard contains information telling Windows how to paste information for lots of different applications. The clipboard typically contains much more information than most people realize. ![]() In locations that allow HTML then it paste one thing, then in locations that only allow plain text it paste something else. Users can rapidly select the snippet of their choice by typing in one or a few characters to highlight just the one snippet and then pressing ("WinClip.SetHTML("Linky to AHK") I saved the script as rofi-snippets.sh in $HOME/bin, made it executable, and bound it to Ctrl+ ` as the keyboard shortcut to launch it. ![]() But if you need to fill in the data on your own, add some text thats. Users can use their preferred method to paste clipboard text. Some tools will automatically fill in these variables for you (more on that in a bit).
